Kathmandu Valley Tour

There are so many place of attraction in the Kathmandu city among them : Pashupatinath Temple, Hanuman Dhoka Durbar Square, Boudhanath and Swyambhunath are popular destinations . These all are enlisted in the World Heritage Sites by UNESCO . The main features of these places are mention below:

Pashupatinath Temple:

PashupatinathThe temple lies in the eastern part of Kathmandu city and it lies on the bank of holy river Bagmati. The temple exhibits two- tiered pagoda style of architecture having cubic constructions with beautifully carved wooden rafters on which they rest. Two level roofs made up of copper with gold covering. The western door has a statue of large bull (Nandi) made of bronze. The struts under the roof dating from the late 17th century are decorated with wooden carvings of members of Shiva's family. It is one of the most celebrated Hindu Temples of Lord Shiva in the world. Thousands of devotes from within and outside the country come to pay homage to Pashupati on the occasions of Mahashivratri, Teej, New Year etc. The Pashupatinath area includes Deupatan, Gaurighat, Jayabageswori, Kutumbahal, Gausala, Pingaasthan and the area of the Shleshmantak forest. There are nearly 492 temples , chityas, sattalsect mostly built in the Pagoda style. There are also about 1000 Shivalings.

Hanuman Dhoka Durbar Square:

Hanuman Dhoka Durbar SquareIt is located at the centre of Kathmandu city. The durbar square is surreounded with spectacular architecture and exquisitely displays the skills of the Newari artists and artisans over the several centuries. This is the palace from where the Malla and Shah Kings ruled over the city. The square got the name from the statue of Hanuman dated to 1672. In 1975 the then crown prince Birendra Bikram Shah was crowned as the king of Nepal on the platform in the middle of the courtyard. Besides the palace, there are some masterpieces of Nepali art and architecture like: Basantapur Palace, Taleju temple, Museum, Kumari House, Kathmandap, A large traditional bell and a Kettle Drum.

Bouddhanath Stupa or Mahachaitya:

BouddhanathAn ancient stupa located in the Buddha Area of Kathmandu is one of the famous pilgrimage sites not only for Buddishists but also for all the religious group who visit from within and outside of Nepal. It is believed to be built in around 5th century. It is one of the holiest shrines for Buddhists all over the world. It is the largest stupa found in Nepal and holiest of all Buddhist temples outside Tibet. It is the focal point of Tibetan Culture inside the Kathmandu and all major holy Buddhist events and festivals are celebrated here. It attracts thousands of tourists from Nepal as well as outside Nepal .There are more than 45 other Buddhist Monasteries in this area.

SwyambhauNath :

SwyambhauNathIt is another world Heritage Site located in Kathmandu. It is situated on a top of a small hill overlooking the Kathmandu Valley. It is one of the most popular and holy shrine for Buddhists and Hindu. It has a unique feature of having 365 steps leading to the temple and according to the popular belief in 'Self-Created or Self Existence' hence the name 'swayambhu'. The temple is also famous as 'Monkey Temple' as the large number of monkeys are roaming and playing around the temple. It is believed to be built during the 5th century, several shrines, monasteries and idols are located around the stupa. This temple is regarded as the symbol of religious tolerance and national unity as it is the temple where both Hindu and Buddhist worship. Recently, one of the biggest Buddha statues have been built near the stupa.
